If you're a start-up looking for collaborative co-working space, a growing business in need of your first office, or require specialist lab facilities for research and development, we offer a range of workspace to help you thrive.

Co-working space is available for members of our project across our three Huddersfield locations. Office and lab space is also available to rent across each site, for those looking to commit to long-term workspace, providing access to meeting rooms, breakout areas and specialist innovation facilities.

Co-working space is available for members across our three Huddersfield locations - ideal for those who need occasional desk space without the commitment of a permanent office.

Our co-working is for members that are actively innovating or starting new ventures in health and wellbeing.

Choose from The Glass Box, situated just down from Huddersfield Train Station, the Health Business Innovation Centre, based on the National Health Innovation Centre and the 3M Buckley Innovation Centre, next to the University of Huddersfield’s main campus.

Members pick a hub and get access to up to three days co-working per week. Co-working space is pre-bookable, only available to eligible members and subject to criteria and availability.

The Glass Box
Flexible workspace in Huddersfield town centre

Located close to Huddersfield Train Station, The Glass Box provides flexible workspace for individuals and small teams working in the health and wellbeing sector.

The Glass Box offers a small number of private offices for early-stage or growing businesses in need of a more permanent base. Meeting rooms are available for members to book, providing a professional setting for client meetings, interviews, or collaborative sessions.

The space includes 24-hour secure access, mailbox services, high-speed fibre connectivity, and a staffed reception during office hours. Its central location also makes it easily accessible by public transport — just a short walk from both Huddersfield Bus and Train Stations.

There is also a co-working area and member business lounge.

Health Business Innovation Centre
Part of the National Health Innovation Campus

A dedicated space for health and wellbeing businesses to access flexible workspace, innovation support and access to academic, clinical and commercial networks.

Huddersfield Health Innovation Partnership

Located on the top floor of the Emily Siddon Building, on the University of Huddersfield’s National Health Innovation Campus, the Health Business Innovation Centre will house offices, labs, event space and co-working from early 2026.

The sister site to the award-winning 3M Buckley Innovation Centre (3M BIC), the Health Business Innovation Centre will offer dedicated support for health and wellbeing innovators developing new products, services and technologies.

At its core is the Health Innovation Makerspace – a specialist facility providing access to expert guidance, prototyping equipment and hands-on support to turn early-stage ideas into viable, real-world solutions.

3M Buckley Innovation Centre | Connecting business innovation with academia

Situated alongside the University of Huddersfield’s main campus, the 3M Buckley Innovation Centre (3M BIC) has a strong reputation for supporting business growth through innovation, collaboration and access to innovative technology.

It offers flexible workspace, including small to large offices, small to large labs, and office/lab combos, as well as technical expertise and technology for product development, helping businesses of all sizes bring new ideas to market and connect with academic and industry partners.

Health Innovation Maker Space
Turning ideas into real-world solutions

A specialist facility designed to support the development of new health and wellbeing products and services, housing 3D printers, sewing machines and more, supported by a health innovation technician.

Health Innovation Maker Space | Turning ideas into real-world solutions

Housed within the Health Business Innovation Centre, the Health Innovation Maker Space is a dedicated environment where businesses can bring early-stage ideas and transform them into viable solutions.

From concept stage, refining a prototype to developing a solution that can transform service delivery, the Maker Space enables innovators to develop, test and refine their concepts in a supportive setting.

From industry-standard prototyping equipment, technical tools and expert guidance from a health innovation technician, it supports a wide range of activities including user-centred design, rapid prototyping, product iteration, service mapping and patient pathway and small-scale testing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use all three locations for co-working?

While we’d love to offer co-working to all our members, due to limited space and operational constraints, it is only available to eligible members through an application process.

If you are eligible, you will need to pick a primary ‘hub’ to work from, but you can request access to the other two sites subject to availability and approval.

How does the project’s co-working model work?

Members will need to select that they are interested in co-working when they apply for membership. Eligible members will then choose one of three Huddersfield venues as their main co-working Hub:

  • The Glass Box (20 spaces, Mon–Thurs 08:00–17:00, Fri 08:00–16:00, access via Reception)
  • HBIC (14 spaces, Mon–Fri 08:00–17:00, access via swipe card)
  • 3M BIC (16 spaces, Mon–Fri 08:00–17:00, access via Reception)

Members can use their Hub up to 3 days per week, subject to availability. Please note that parking is not available at all three hubs.

How can I access the Health Innovation Makerspace?

If you are interested in accessing the Makerspace, get in touch with our Health Innovation Technician, James Allen, who will book you in a for an initial consultation to discuss your needs - j.allen2@hud.ac.uk
Please note that you need to be a member of the programme to get free access to the Makerspace.

Is discounted office or lab space available as part of the project?

When will the Health Business Innovation Centre be complete?

The Centre is scheduled to open for business in early March 2026. We will keep you updated on developments through our social media channels and newsletters.
