The Huddersfield Health Innovation Incubator is a business support programme for pre- and early-stage start-ups, growing organisations working in or entering the health, wellbeing and life sciences sectors based in West Yorkshire, as well as those seeking to build connections within the sector.

Led by Kirklees Council, the University of Huddersfield, the 3M Buckley Innovation Centre (3M BIC) and the NHS, the initiative brings together key regional partners to accelerate innovation, collaboration and business growth. It forms part of the West Yorkshire Healthtech Investment Zone, a set of funding schemes that focus on developing innovation infrastructure and support programmes in the region.

As a member of the Incubator, you can get access to:

  • Sector-specific business support and mentoring, from those starting out to those scaling up*
  • Product development tools and expertise, including support for innovations aimed at improving health service delivery*
  • Co-working space across three locations in Huddersfield*
  • Opportunities to collaborate with the University of Huddersfield, the NHS and industry.

How much is it to join the membership?

Our membership is fully funded for the first two years through the West Yorkshire Healthtech Investment Zone, therefore is free to join. After the two years, charges for membership may apply.

Who is eligible for the membership?

Thrive is open to early-stage health and wellbeing businesses based in West Yorkshire, up to 12 months old and with less than 5 employees . If you're developing an innovative product, service or idea in this sector, you may be eligible. Get in touch with our team to discuss your fit – huddshealthinnovation@kirklees.gov.uk

Backed by £160 million over 10 years, it supports cutting-edge infrastructure, research facilities, and tailored business development programmes.

Anchored by key sites in Leeds, Bradford and Huddersfield, the Investment Zone aims to position West Yorkshire as a national leader in health innovation.
